This is the first in The Sullivan Mafia Series, but it does end on a cliffhanger, so be aware. It introduces us to Ciara and Ronan, who are enemies at the start of the book.
Ciara believes Ronan's responsible for her father’s death, but despite that, her brother arranges to have her marry Ronan to form an alliance following the death of Ronan’s father.
Ciara starts their union intent on making Ronan’s life as miserable as she can, whilst Ronan attempts to find out who killed his father.
But as time passes, they come to discover things about their families which will change their lives and beliefs forever.
I now need to listen to the next book, Avenged Vows. I hope the wait won't be too long.

The marriage starts as a cold, strategic alliance, more obligation than affection. What makes the story work is how slowly and convincingly that dynamic shifts. The hero is controlled and ruthless when needed, but layered. The heroine doesn’t fold under pressure; her strength shows up in quiet defiance and resilience.
The chemistry is sharp, the emotional tension feels earned, and the darker themes add weight without overwhelming the romance. It’s not a soft love story, but if you like intensity, possessiveness, and love growing in hostile territory, this one delivers.

The duet narration by Heather Firth and James Cassidy is absolutely extraordinary. Heather Firth is brilliant as beautiful, intelligent, quiet but sassy Ciara. I could feel all of her pain, anger, fear, hurt, disappointment, doubt, lust, passion and love through her voice. James Cassidy is positively delightful as alpha, ruthless, possessive, obsessed Ronan. His sexy, sultry tone and Irish accent are divine. These two talented voice actors brought this story to life beautifully. I highly recommend listening to this fabulous audiobook.
