CIARA:
He’s the monster responsible for my father’s death.
Soon, he’ll be my husband.
Marrying Ronan Sullivan is the last thing I want,
but it’s the only way my family’s name will survive.
I go into this marriage with one goal:
Making Ronan pay for what he did.
Only I never expected to fall in love with him.

RONAN:
She thinks she knows the truth,
But what she doesn’t realize is everything I did was for her.
Not that it matters.
This marriage is nothing but a business arrangement.
It’s easier if emotions are left out of it.
It’s easier if she hates me.
Because my focus needs to be on the mafia, not her.
Someone I know and trust is trying to destroy me.
The last thing I need right now her distracting me.

I thought I have read or listen to all of this author's books. I was pleasantly surprised that I have not read this one before. The narrators do a good job in portraying the characters. The chemistry is intense and for the book to end on a cliffhanger was torture at its best.

This is book 1 of The Sullivan Mafia Series. It is a compelling suspenseful tale of two enemies who marry and must navigate both their own issues and their feelings for each other. By the end of this audiobook, I had the next book in the series ready to go because the story is worth reading or listening to. It does end in a cliffhanger.

I really enjoyed listening to this book. The narrators did a great job. I did love the storyline and the connection that the MMC and FMC have with each other. She thinks he is responsible for her dad’s death and when she finds out the truth more secrets start to unravel.

Cliffhanger!!!

Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Noteworthy: ends on a cliffhanger.

You know that dramatic couple in high school who’s always fighting and clucking? Ronan and Ciara’s story is like getting stuck in an elevator with that couple. Neither of them are smart enough for good banter, just juvenile retorts. Ronan is one supplement away from starting a podcast. Ciara’s only personality traits are being married and jogging. If there was more build up or if there was a redeeming quality between them this could have been a five star read. But like that couple from high school, I never knew why they were together, why they stayed together, and fully expect them to get pregnant at the least responsible time possible. The narrators carried the story, genuinely great performances.

Summary: if you are a causal reader, I wouldn’t recommend this book. If you are an avid reader, sure. It was a good enough listen to stay on while I scrubbed my house without missing plot points.

I really enjoyed the story. The way that Ronan started just wanting to push Ciara buttons and then slowly falling love with her was fantastic. The banter between then was great and the voice actors were perfect. James Cassidy is fantastic in his delivery.
