During the second half of the 20th century, East and West stood on the brink of war. Nowhere was this more evident than in Central Germany, where 10,000 tanks belonging to NATO stood ready to resist a ground attack spearheaded by 40,000 Warsaw Pact tanks. It was a war that never was. But what if it had? How would the opening days of World War III played out?

Team Yankee, the New York Times best-seller by Harold Coyle, presents a glimpse of what it would have been like for the soldiers who would have had to meet the relentless onslaught of Soviet and Warsaw Pact divisions. Using the geo-political and military scenarios described by General Sir John Hackett, former NORTHAG commander and author of World War Three; August 1985, Team Yankee follows the war as seen from the turret of Captain Sean Bannon's tank.

Through Bannon's eyes, and those of the men belonging to his tank heavy combat team, the listener lives through the first 14 days of World War III. The action is vivid and exciting, the tension palpable. Defeat and death are as close as victory.

I read all of Harold Coyles books when I was in high school. I would love to see the rest of his books come to audible. I would definitely buy them all.

the written version I remember from years ago. I always compare Coyle and Clancy when I recommend military action thrillers. This was very enjoyable and well worth the time to listen to every word!

The Audible version is even better than

things went much too well for these guys. in the real conflicts things would be much more grim
. a waste of money & time , avoid at all costs

technically good, but overly optimistic

The book starts off well. The first battle is tense and seems plausible. However, later on, this book starts using some seriously unbelievable John Wayne levels of cheese. Our characters are practically untouchable. They defeat the soviets easily and face few casualties. The Soviet’s are out to lunch tactically speaking. And due to them not being a threat, it sucks all the tension out of the action.

The book is well written and preformed though. With lots of detailed knowledge about tanks and tank warfare. It just has no restraint when it comes to the believability of the action.

Starts great. Falters later on.

If you could sum up Team Yankee in three words, what would they be?

Colye's richness of character makes a great story about a 80's WWIII story that is well worth the listen

slightly dated but great wwIII story
