We didn't know what to expect when we jumped through the Leap Point. We certainly didn't anticipate finding that humans had been out here before. We thought we were the first to leave our star system, but we we're wrong.

Maybe Hegemony was correct. Maybe we are just blundering our way from discovery to discovery, and it's only a matter of time before we encounter something in the vast darkness that takes a real bite out of us.

It would certainly help if the government had our back. If they weren't trying to seize our assets, arrest our executives and sic a murderous AI on us, we could probably put a solid foot forward into the galaxy, for all our sakes.

I loved it. Surprising twists and turns. I never saw some things coming. I can't wait for the next novel to come out.

Bring on the Next Novel in this series.

A little slow Ds
at times especially at the start of the boom, but with it.

Good - really creative

I think there's a good space opera in the writer! Looking forward to his future series! As for this one, there's a good balance between starry eyed mystery and action/battles to keep me interested in the story. IOW, the action moves the plot vs. the plot being an excuse for battle scenes. Also, the characters are decently drawn, although lacking a bit of depth/personal back story. I also really appreciate the lack of boys-only humor that will make me stop reading books a lot of the time in this genre - in the future if there is space travel, I guarantee there will be less dualistic concepts of gender. We're already headed in that direction (hence the ridiculous backlash happening). Looking forward to book no. 3!

Not usually a military sci-fi fan

Very glad the author continued the story. Thank you.
I think it’s a little hackneyed to have parasitic arthropod villains, but it is only a minor annoyance in the glory of this story.
I really laughed a lot at Cabrera’s gaff with the marked territory, that was a GREAT SCENE, so funny in a serious story.

Great continuation.
