This review is on the entire box-set collection of Vampires in Wonderland, which includes a prequel novella, and the main trilogy. Each book in this spicy, open-door, Romantasy trilogy follows different characters and their relationships. While each book follows a different pair of characters, they are not stand-alone stories; instead, being sequential stories in the same world where the events of the previous books are related to the current story.

Wonderland, as the name suggests, plays heavily on the themes from Carroll's Alice in Wonderland. It is a dark world that is home to Vampires who can access the human world through hole-in-the ground portals. Characters include Maddie the hatter, Mouse, the Knave, Ever the white queen, the queen of hearts, Alice (a human) and her brother Noah, Chess the son of the queen of hearts, and March.

The first book follows Alice, Noah, and Maddie. Book two follows the white queen and Chess. Book three follows Mouse and the knave. Of the 3 stories, I enjoyed book 2, Ever and Chess's story the most, as it was more of a slow burn (my favorite).

All 3 of the books have detailed graphic sexual content, adult language, rape(not shown but talked about in memories), torture, death, murder, child loss, alcohol & drug use/abuse, blood, gore, forced isolation and confinement, and other dark themes.

The writing itself it pretty good. I enjoyed the parallels to Carroll's book, not quite a dark retelling. I almost gave up after book one as it was little more than smut just barely disguised as a story. The slow burn of book 2 was worth it. By book 3 I was invested. Book 3 also deals with recovery from trauma, which gave it more depth than book 1, but still lots of spice.

For Audiobook readers, Eva Caine does a good job with the narration. I enjoyed all her voices, but her male voices were especially wonderful.

Very Spicy Open-Book Romantasy w/a dark play on Carroll's fairytale.

Wonderful series and I hope there will be more coming! I hope to hear more about Alice. The writing was amazing! The characters were so interesting and the world's sounded to astounding! The narration was superb! Love vampires and Wonderland!

Spoiler alert!

All three books are based loosely on Alice in Wonderland, HEA, have plenty of spice, and the narration is decent. Good writing, easy to follow, no idiot tropes, not cringey, you don't end up hating character choices or wording. My only dislike was that book 3 got a little repetitive.

Book 1 has a bit of enemies to lovers with plenty of action with good pacing, 2 focuses a lot on slow burn and enemies to lovers, and book 3 is a sort of sweet love story with a lot of spice.

This vampire retelling of Alice in Wonderland has an interesting idea but a weak execution. The biggest flaw is the existence of a cure for vampirism, which completely removes the weight and consequences that make vampires compelling in the first place. Instead of being a curse, vampirism feels temporary and low-stakes. The Alice in Wonderland elements also feel shallow, relying more on references than true surreal creativity. Overall, the book undermines its own themes and was disappointing to listen to.
