This is a light-grey dark mafia romance, that had me giggling and kicking my feet with the non-stop banter.

The duet performances by Andi Eloise and Sean Masters were beyond charming, entertaining, and captivating. Both narrators have a powerful presence in their voice acting, enhancing the stories they tell, and keeping you engaged. This can be seen not only in the characters, Alison and Max, but also in the flow and development of the story as well.

From the quick-witted banter to the unfortunate backstory leading to their fallout, with jealous fits, arranged marriages and a slow burn that will keep you on edge, I really enjoyed listening to this audio. This book does end in a cliffhanger. I’m ready to get my hands on the second part of this duet.

I have been anxiously awaiting Max and Allison story in audiobook. We’ve witnessed the tension and attraction between them in the previous books and now we know why. This book takes place in the same timeline as the previous book and this series is really best enjoyed if you’ve read the previous books. I’m not sure I’ve ever read a book where the MMC’s efforts to protect the MMF are so brutal and yet so full of love. Allison is surrounded by powerful men in her family and struggling to find her place in the world. Max clearly has a painful past that we still don’t know all about as he attempts to stay away from the one woman that calms him. This book ends with a cliffhanger (the same one from Book 3) and I cannot wait for Book 5 to bring me Max and Allison’s HEA. Even if you’ve read this book already, please do yourself a favor and listen to the duet production performed by Andi Eloise and Sean Masters. I cannot say enough good things about Andi’s emotional performance and how expertly she portrays Allison’s heartache. As for Sean Masters, this might be his best performance yet as he makes us feel every ounce of Max’s struggle to stay away from Allison. I cannot wait to hear Andi and Sean bring us Book 5.
