A book that doesn’t have a happily ever after doesn’t usually appeal to me, however something about this book tempted me so I took a chance. And OMG I do not regret it one little bit. Yes, the ending isn’t happy, but the twisted dark tale that weaves around the lives of Christian, Elena, The Silencer, Caroline, Edwin and The Executioner that will only end in one way, was simply spellbinding, faultless and utterly epic. Mental illness, brutality, pain, obsession, schizophrenia, danger, rape, death are balanced out by compassion, acceptance, understanding, caring, passion, sex and a deep love.. whether it’s unhealthily or not it was beautiful. And few could’ve played unhinged and sane and everything in between as phenomenally well as Joe Arden who brought this captivating story to life in duet style narration along with Lee Daniels and the hours flew. So I saw every scene.. I felt every emotion.. I rejoiced with them.. I planned as they planned.. I stumbled when they did.. and I fell in heartbreak when they did too.

Worth a credit? YES.. for the wonderful writing skills of Ariel N. Anderson who has delivered one hell of a debut novel. YES.. for the incredible narration that just doesn't get better than this. And YES for a tragic love story I’ll never forget.

Admittedly, I thought that this book was too slow in the beginning, so I just knew it would be on my return & DNF list. However, I kept listening, because everyone couldn't be wrong about the high ratings of this book. I'm so glad that I kept listening. This book was pretty predictable for me, except for the ending....flipped my lid 😯😵‍💫. Even with me guessing some of the plot, it was still highly exciting and suspenseful. This story was written with meticulous detail. So, when I reached the ending, I could better appreciate the beginning. Definitely a lot of triggers in this book. WOW..just, wow. Lots of steam, especially with Joe Arden's emotional sounds 😍. Narration was stellar, it was a performance...no, a production. I love Joe in duet narration, he always delivers. So, did Lee Daniels, her performance was phenomenal. Writing was seamless to me. Well done Ariel.

This is the first book I almost didn’t finish. Finish it. Amazing. Darker than you can imagine and this writer…..just wow. Read it.
