I'm approach 500 LitRPG books, and this is in the top 2%. A phenomenally well-crafted and well written book, with a very smart MC facing against very smart villains.

First off, a dome comes over Dallas, along with magic for the world.

So, so much happens. I listened to it all three times, but I need to give it another listen. The MC is a *great* character.

Definitely get this book. I'm going through the second book now.

It does start out a little rough, but hang in there. This book is essentially a more grounded adventure following the LitRPG formula. What will surprise you is the action and environmental setup. Very well done and impactful. This should be the start of a great series.
The only thing I would change is the "reluctant hero" angle. It's overplayed a bit.

The MC is a “hero” that schemes like a top tier villain; very observant and manipulative. He’s not afraid to gaslight someone to get results and his approach is clinical in most circumstances. It’s definitely not for everyone, but if you go into this with an open mind, I think you’ll enjoy it. Great characters and world building. Narration is top notch.
