War has come to the Rune Realm. The Goddess Mother has returned, but there is nothing divine about her.

Nate has survived everything thrown his way: powerful professors, deadly trolls in the Forest of Dreams, and the cutthroat chaos of the Questing Games. Each time, he’s defied the odds, finding a way to triumph.

But this is different. This is war.

With Grishna missing, and dozens of other runics vanishing without a trace, Nate and his companions set out to uncover the truth. Their journey will lead them across the Realm, into the arms of unlikely allies, the jaws of buried secrets, and face-to-face with a power unlike any they’ve encountered before.

Classes are over. The Games are done.

The real fight has just begun.

Easily the worst entry in the series. Threet did a good job with the material but holy moly was this just a bunch or rambling nonsense. you could easily skip the entire middle 3rd and miss nothing aside from info dumps followed by the MC asking "wait, so I am hearing this correctly?" Only to have what we just heard repeated again. Over and over. The whole series is clearly a Harry Potter fan fic, but you could really feel it here.

great preformance but the book was a rambling mess.

Really. Listened on 2x speed and skipped through whole section. Blah blah 15 word min

Meh

The positive aspect is that this series is complete with a satisfactory conclusion. However, unlike the other 3 books, this was a more difficult experience to get through. The shift in tones from tragedy to nonsensical humor threw me out of the immersion of the story. In addition to extended mansplaining, extended death soliloque(s), and over abundant evil villain monologing... the extended penultimate battle fell flat. For the lovers of the genre, please give it a try. You may come to a different conclusion.

Story I wanted to love, but fell flat at the end.
