Scorio thought victory was within his grasp.

He had bested the Final Gauntlet and overcome the treachery of Chancellor Praximar. But the Rascor Plains are full of peril, and his quest for truth has only just begun.

With his friends scattered and his reputation in tatters, Scorio must navigate a web of intrigue that stretches from the powerful House Hydra and the Fiery Shoals to the mysterious forces that govern the Plains. He will face foes, both human and inhuman, and confront the darkest secrets of his world.

Beware the fiends, for they hunger for your soul. Beware your allies, for they may break your heart. And beware Scorio, for he will stop at nothing to uncover the truth.

I've listened to both books in the last couple of weeks, nearly from morning until night the last few days. This series is the first to hook me in a while, and I'd listen to another 10 books if they existed.

Always moving forward, something is always happening, actions have consequences, and the choices made are always based in reality. It never feels like somebody makes a choice that doesn't match their personality. The world Phil Tucker has built is so rich that it already feels so deep and complex, and yet it also feels like 90% of the world hasn't even been touched, just hinted at and with endless content to explore.

I've come to realize most of my favorite series have been found by simply looking into what Nick Podehl has narrated and picking whatever looks interesting. He is such a good narrator, and he synergizes so well with this series. Definitely looking forward to book 3. It can't come soon enough!

Incredible, had me hooked

I loved this books concept and depth it has for never being able to tell what’s going to happen next. I always felt like I needed listen and read more til I got the answer. Anyone that loves fantasy and enjoys feeling what the characters feel this is the book for you. I don’t think I’m bias in my review when I learned things when listening and reading this book that helped me with my own writing of my books. Anyone would feel there attention focused on knowing what happens next and the struggles and challenges the journey brings for the main character.

I can’t wait for the next book
