A modern retelling of Little Women, this contemporary romance reimagines Louisa May Alcott’s beloved classic through the lives of four sisters coming of age on a New Orleans military base.

The Spring sisters—Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy—are inseparable, fiercely loyal, and determined to build futures that rise beyond their modest circumstances. With their father deployed overseas and their mother harboring a secret of her own, the sisters face a year that will test their ambitions, relationships, and sense of self.

Meg, the eldest, dreams of becoming an officer’s wife and entering military society—if her passion and reputation don’t get in the way. Beth, the quiet backbone of the family, struggles with fear and isolation, unsure how to step beyond the safety of home. Jo longs to escape entirely, setting her sights on New York City and a journalism career that will let her change the world, even if love threatens to slow her down. And Amy, the youngest, watches and learns from her sisters’ triumphs and mistakes, shaping her own path in their shadow.

With romance, drama, and plenty of sass, this fresh, emotionally charged novel brings the themes of love, war, class, ambition, and family into the language of the 21st century—offering a bold, contemporary take on a timeless story.

I’ve never read Little Women, so I have nothing to compare this book to but I absolutely loved it! ALL the narrators were fantastic. I hope Anna Todd continues writing about the Spring Girls!

LOVED IT!!!

Yes, there's language. Yes, there's situations that i prefer to not read about. On the whole, the book is good, but other than the characters' names lifted from the OG Little Women, that's where the similarities end.
This book isn't a retelling but a re-imagining. It leaves you hanging on some story lines and just ends without the satisfaction of having an ending. Overall, a nice escape for a summer day, but be prepared to be unsatisfied at the end.

Not as Bad as They Say, BUT...

I really wanted to like this book; I loved the Before series. This one, unfortunately, lacked spark and excitement. The author over-explained her characters’ thoughts and seemed to be on a quest to throw in as many abilities as possible (they got tedious). The pop culture references also never seemed to fit organically into a story that really never seems to take off.

A mediocre read

The concept is good, but the execution is horrible. This was a book club pick, otherwise I wouldn’t have read it. This author is one on my do not read list, because of how pornographic and fraught with profanity her other books are. I had hopes that this classic story wouldn’t be ruined, but I was wrong. There is sex, and the strong profanity is prolific. The author throws in f*bombs for no good reason, and extremely frequently.
Little Women is a wonderful, classic and clean novel. This modern adaptation is abysmal. Besides the horrible (fat from clean) content, the author changes the story in drastic ways, and takes liberties that should not have been taken.
I do not recommend this book, and will be staying away from this author in the future.
