For fans of Lucy Foley and Society of Lies comes a crackling study abroad thriller that proves that a trip of a lifetime can have deadly consequences …

Ten years ago

A study abroad program like no other: a month-long trip of education and adventure, exploring everything Australia has to offer. And at first, it's everything best friends Phoebe and Claire, and the rest of the student group expects: sunshine, whirlwind romance, and all-night parties. But it isn't long before cracks begin to form within the group. Ones that lead to Phoebe's disappearance …

Now

It's the call Claire has been waiting for years for. Phoebe's remains have been found. It's time to return, for her and the others to go back to Australia. But as Claire retraces their steps and tries to piece together exactly what happened to her best friend all those years ago, it quickly becomes clear everyone in the group has secrets. Including Claire.

Because only she knows what really happened that fateful day ten years ago. The day she killed her best friend. And she'll do anything she can to keep the others from learning the truth.

Book had all the makings of a good whodunit/keep you guessing murder mystery. Story was underdeveloped and a bit cheesy. No shade to the author. I couldn’t write a book so I don’t like to critique often but it just felt a bit too predictable and like the characters and dialogue was written by AI. I don’t know how else to explain it.

Right idea…

I am only giving this a 3 because it went from good to predictable. I did like the epilogue, and would be interested if the author pulled on that thread in another book.

Okay, WTF?! Sis... this book had me questioning absolutely everyone, including people who weren't even in the story. 😂

This Stays Between Us takes readers from a seemingly perfect study abroad adventure in Australia to a decade-later reunion sparked by the discovery of Phoebe's remains. What starts as a mystery surrounding a missing friend quickly spirals into a tangled web of lies, secrets, betrayals, and enough suspicion to make you side-eye every character.

The dual timelines and multiple POVs kept the story moving at a fast pace and constantly shifted my theories. Just when I thought I had everything figured out, Sara Ochs casually pulled the rug out from under me and said, "Try again." The character development was one of the strongest parts of the novel. Every relationship felt layered, complicated, and messy in the best possible way.

What really stood out was how the story explored the lengths people will go to protect their secrets, the friendships they cling to, and the bonds that continue to connect people long after they've been broken.

And that ending? I was still sitting there asking myself, wait... who actually was the killer? Right up until the final pages, this book kept twisting and turning.

If you enjoy unreliable narrators, dark friendship dynamics, multiple suspects, and thrillers that keep you guessing until the very last line, add this one to your TBR immediately.

Final Verdict: A twisty, addictive thriller that proves everyone has secrets—and nobody can be trusted. Even when you think you've solved it, think again. 👀📚🔪

Something goes wrong with the audio, it’s like 2 people talking at once. Very confusing.
