One of People’s Best Books to Read in February

A dangerous alliance between a Vampyre bride and an Alpha Werewolf becomes a love deep enough to sink your teeth into in this new paranormal romance from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Love, Theoretically and The Love Hypothesis.

Misery Lark, the only daughter of the most powerful Vampyre councilman of the Southwest, is an outcast—again. Her days of living in anonymity among the Humans are over: she has been called upon to uphold a historic peacekeeping alliance between the Vampyres and their mortal enemies, the Weres, and she sees little choice but to surrender herself in the exchange—again...

Weres are ruthless and unpredictable, and their Alpha, Lowe Moreland, is no exception. He rules his pack with absolute authority, but not without justice. And, unlike the Vampyre Council, not without feeling. It’s clear from the way he tracks Misery’s every movement that he doesn’t trust her. If only he knew how right he was….

Because Misery has her own reasons to agree to this marriage of convenience, reasons that have nothing to do with politics or alliances, and everything to do with the only thing she's ever cared about. And she is willing to do whatever it takes to get back what’s hers, even if it means a life alone in Were territory…alone with the wolf.

Love:
* The banter is amazing and I’ve always enjoyed Ali Hazelwood’s brand of humor!
* The FMC is feisty and witty! She’s reluctant to caring and it’s fun to see her walls break down! Her humor in this book had me laughing out loud 🧛🏻‍♀️
* The MMC is a classic alpha! Protective, broody, tender and takes care of the FMC in subtle ways. His love at first isn’t loud, it’s quiet and in ways like adjusting his home temperature, adding things to the fridge for her, etc. 🐺
* Fantasy/Paranormal in a modern setting is a lot of fun!!!! It’s a cool twist and it’s nice to relate to the technology and modern references. 🧝🏼‍♀️💻
* If you are a die hard fantasy reader you may not love this book. It strays a lot from the standard fantasy book but it’s still so much fun to read. Give it a chance and go into it expecting it to be a fun mysterious romance read that happens to be between a werewolf and a vampire. I enjoyed it and loved being able to easily pronounce the words in a fantasy book 😂 IYKYK
* The twists in the book were great! Some were predictable but they were still juicy! I would enjoy a second book for the brother of the FMC!

Didn’t Love:
* Personally, I struggled with seeing their “world”. There wasn’t a lot of detail on the land unlike other fantasy books. Im aware this book takes place in a US state where werewolves and vampires live divided by humans. Maybe it’s just me and maybe I missed a detail…. But I wish there was more detail on their “world”. I just feel like I was left with a lot of questions… 🧐
* I’m not opposed to swearing in books, it doesn’t bother me, but for some reason the FMC constantly cursing around and to the 7yo just felt weird to me. It’s also A LOT of cursing in general and it’s really only from the FMC. Seemed a little forced, like the FMC has a daily swear word quota.

Ali Hazelwood’s foray into the Omegaverse is so well done!
Well planned, well executed, well written - no surprise here. This is a delightful detour from her previous works. Do not expect the same kind of book as Love Theoretically, etc.
A little spicy, a lot heartfelt and a strong sense of plot direction.
Please purchase this. You won’t regret it. This broke me out of my bored spell with my reading. ✨✨✨✨✨

Oh H*LL yeah

God I hope there’s a sequel. I like that the 🌶️ scenes are a bit awkward and sweet and the enjoyed ironic tension between them. The world hazelwood built is engaging, if a little cheesy.

She’s a degenerate furry but I’m still here

The narration on this book is perfect, and I love absolutely everything about the story, plot and characters. The heroine is wonderfully appealing, and I found myself wanting to hug her on more than one occasion. The hero is warm and kind, though one scene seemed out of character for him. The author didn't let it fester, though. I really hope there is a sequel to this with the friends, because I want to read it.

Absolutely wonderful
